Hello once more! This is your happy blogger from Équipe 3, Kevin. Right now, I’m writing you from “In the middle of nowhere”, making our way from Edmonton to Calgary, just in time for the Congrès Catholique Francophone de l’Alberta (CFCA), which we will be leading in just a few days. We’ve had a week filled with joy, as we met up with a few people we haven’t seen in quite a while.
Firstly; on Thursday, finally finding our way back to the big city in Edmonton, we picked up our supervisors, Liam and Tara, for our first supervisor visit of the year. As we are not physically present in Ottawa during the year, our supervisors come and meet us on the road three times per year, to touch base with the team. And let me tell you, it was great! We had a bunch of fun, visiting the West Edmonton mall (which is really as big as it is made out to be…wow…really…), carving our own patented pumpkins on Halloween, and finally meeting up with the Wetaskiwin parish team on Friday!
It was great to meet up with this team! We made our way from Edmonton to Wetaskiwin, and spent the day at Sacred Heart Parish, where Team 4, a NET parish team, is based. We hadn’t seen these people since our departure from training nearly a month ago, so laughing and sharing anecdotes form the road with them was great! And probably the best part of this visit was leading team prayer together. On NET, every team has a time of daily prayer together, and we got to share this with them. Picture it, 17 people joining voices to praise God for the amazing things He is doing through these two ministries that make NET.
Sunday, we said good-bye to our supervisors, driving them back to the airport, and resumed our retreat ministry Monday, back in Edmonton. Small groups are always an important part of our retreats, and my small group today started off as quite reserved, but through the course of the day, after the talks, testimonies, and especially the prayer time, they really opened up. By the last time in small group we spent together, one even admitted that his whole view of the Catholic Church had changed, and that for the first time in his life, he was actually open to it, and to building a relationship with Jesus. Praise God!
Well that is it for now. Please pray for us this weekend, we’ll be putting on the entire youth segment of the CFCA, and we hope, through God’s grace, that it will be a success. So for now, thank you all for your continuing supper, we are keeping you all in our prayers!
God bless!
Kevin
