Wetaskiwin - Mission POSSIBLE

Infuse 3 had another blessedly busy weekend. Our lovely supervisors came down from Ottawa! We wasted no time introducing them to all the wonderful people here, and showing them all the sights! But if they were expecting a restful stay, they were in for a surprise…

We started off with a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE event on Friday night. Two hundred youth from all different churches got together for a giant game of predator/prey in a dark, isolated field. We drove to a secret location down a very dusty road. I was kind of wondering how anyone knew where they were going, it was so dark and dusty. Country roads in the prairies! The night ended with me climbing on the back of an ATV and shouting out a testimony over the crackling of a giant bonfire. I can honestly say I’ve never done that before! The whole night was so much fun. It was so uplifting to see the fellowship that formed between the different denominations. We are truly One Body in Christ!

Saturday night was a little smaller, but just as exhilarating! We had a Lifeteen Fire Night, which is what we call our monthly grade 10 – 12 fun nights. We sent the youth on a photo scavenger hunt all over Wetaskiwin. THEN the leaders chased them with water guns (bearing in mind the current temperatures)! So just imagine, if you can, about 40 kids running around in the cold for an hour, snapping pictures of cartwheels and confusing the locals. One item on the scavenger list was a photo of the team getting kicked out of a restaurant – check please!

On Sunday we had a Lifenight on negative speech. We dove really deep and built some solid relationships with the CORE team and the youth attending. I know we all left that night with a conviction to glorify God with our words, and determined to cut sarcasm and teasing out of our youth environment.
On Monday, our supervisors led a team day. Also on Monday, we woke up to a white winter wonderland. Definitely a gift straight from heaven, as this was the day we were taking our Christmas card picture! Our supervisors played photographer while we threw snowballs at each other and pretended that we didn’t know about the cameras. Thoroughly frozen, we hit up Tim Horton’s for one of God’s greatest little gifts – COFFEE!
I can’t attest for the men’s session, but the women of Infuse 3 had a wonderful time sharing and praying together. Listening to our voices blend together in praise in worship in front of the tabernacle was really delightful. Praise God for the opportunity to come together as girls and show our love for Him and for each other!
Our team day ended with a carbohydrate-loaded dinner and an entertaining game of volleyball. It was sad bidding adieu to our wonderful supervisors, but we made some great memories. We are definitely looking forward to our next supervisor visit in November!

Coming up, we have a Jr. High Retreat for the local Catholic School. As always, we have Edge on Friday night. This Sunday is Halloween! Sadly, we are too young to Trick or Treat. However, we can Trick or Eat! Lifeteen is doing a social justice project this Halloween and collecting non-perishable food items. Pictures of excellent Halloween costumes will come shortly!
God Bless! Thanks for reading!
