"God looked at (Drayton Valley), and He found it very good."

Rachel Hargrave, guest blogger here, with the latest from our past week in Drayton Valley - and man, what a week it has been! After the break for Easter, we’re back into ministry and fully into the swing of things. This past weekend, we had a Survivor night for our junior high youth group. That’s right, Survivor!! We had various challenges going on – challenges for the mind, the strength, the will, the stomach…I’ll leave you to imagine that one, as I don’t particularly desire to describe it! The team and all the youth got decked out in facepaint and bandanas, which only intensified the “Survivor” feel. A ton of youth came out, and as a special event, we invited grade 6’s, to give them a sneak peek of what they get to expect next year!

However, Survivor night was only the beginning! We held our junior high retreat, a highlight of the year for me. Through the day, we did lots of crazy skits, heard a talk, played games, and culminated with prayer ministry. It was amazing to work up to prayer throughout the day, and then give everyone attending the opportunity to actually talk to God on a personal level. One youth especially has been seeking God and faith-related activities over the past little while, and the opportunity to pray with her and encourage her in her search was truly a blessing.

Her story has really struck me and reminded me of the impact that love has. I’ve been learning about how God can take the little things that we do, and transform someone’s life through them. The past month has made this more and more apparent, as I see more people desiring and seeking Christ as a result of seeing His light and realizing how GOOD He is. Even the little things that you may think would be insignificant, such as repeatedly seeking someone out and spending time with them can really show the face of Christ to them and help ignite a desire to know Him more. Please pray especially for all those in Drayton Valley who are realizing this desire and beginning to search for its fulfillment.

We’re learning a lot about God’s love and providence here, and I hope that you are too, wherever you are! May God pour out His blessings on you abundantly especially in this coming week!
